A very old and interesting picture of the Avenue . Can anyone identify from which end of the Avenue it was taken and what the wooden crosses along the right hand side might be for ?

My Guess is is from the Bridge end as the Bridge doesnt appear to be at the Top of the picture ? regarding the Crosses , I reckon they are are for taking levels of , ie for a Building or a Road

I think it might be the bridge end of the avenue as well. The right hand side used to have the remains of the foundations of old huts in the field. We used to play there when we were young. Does anyone remember the little passing place that is on the right hand side of the road, that would give an indication of the road.

Yes Davy and I agree the Crosses are engineering profile Levels for building Roads.

Cannot help re queries, but I have a copy of this Picture dated Aug 28 1910. The Macintyre series was produced by my Grandfather. He died in 1941. This is one of my favourites!
