Keith, which ones are Sandy and Jimmy ? I remember your grandfather well.

Jimmy is 2nd row , 2nd from the right and Sandy is above him.

Also I dont think the Cameron's or "Lassies" as they were know never stayed at Achavaddie or Achluachrah. James Cameron and his wife stayed at Strathossin Corror and then moved to Tulloch March and then to the Gorge Roybrigde. Keith

Was talking to Jimmy Cameron who lives in Spean and he told me about Strathossin ,Tulloch and the Gorge. I used to go with your Mum and Dad and your Sisters up to the Gorge for picnics, that was after everyone had moved to Keppoch Terrace.

Flora is back row second from left and Jeanie is middle row fourth from left. My father's birth certificate ( John Cameron, born 1 May 1911) states that he was born at Achluachrach. I also have a postcard from 1907 addressed to Tinnie (Christina) at Achvaddie (sic). so I would assume that some of them stayed at those locations at some point in time. I also have an old photo of Glenroy with a stone house which is labelled Achavaddy (sic) stating that my father lived in the area as a child. The information that I am receiving is astounding considering that this is over a hundred years ago. Thank you.

There is a possibility that she might have been the sister of my great-grandfather, Thomas MacGregor.....

Sally, my Great-Grandmother was Jane McGregor, born 23 january 1853, died 17 May 1926. Her parents were Alexander McGregor and Christina (nee McRae)

Well hey, they WERE brother and sister. I knew that there was a relationship to the Camerons,but did not know exactly where. Mystery now solved.
Norma MacInnes and Keith Wilson who have commented previously are grandchildren of Alexander Cameron.

You asked about The Gorge... we always called the house where they lived as the gorge but I suppose it was really a very very small area where the River Spean cuts very deeply through the countryside. The house was very close to the railway. Maybe Keith or Norma have a photograph,as I said before,I used to go picnics to the area with them as a child. Happy days.
My grandfather was also called Alexander MacGregor

Allan ,incidently,Thomas MacGregor married Ann Cameron and they had 8 children. One of them was called Teenie and I think they lived for a while at 2 Brunachan which may be the house you have photograph of in Glenroy??

Do not think we have any pictures of the Gorge will check with Keith , remember the good times we had as kids picnics to Bunroy also Bouline

Looking for information about my Great Grandfather Neil Dougherty and his family who was Signal Master at Roybridge

Do you have any idea of the year / years that your Great Grandfather was employed at Roybridge Station ?
Did he stay in Railway accomodation ?

In the 1911 census he is down as stating in signalmans house , will try and post census

I have just "stumbled" upon this website and am hooked ! My grandmother was Alexina Lothian nee McIssac who lived at Murlaggan with her deceased sister Flora's husband Donald Rankin ,I have been told in the past that there are links to Cameron in our family and I think perhaps Alexina and Flora's mother may have been Catherine Cameron . Can anyone confirm this or any connection?

Hi Catherine. I vaguely remember your Grandmother , I am sure there are lots of local people who will remember her well. I remember Donald Rankin when he was quite an old man. Did you know there was a photo of him in a Shinty team, on this site? Just put his name into the advanced search and it will come up. Hope you get the info you are looking for. .

Sally thank you yes I have seen the Photograph and another Photo with my uncle Bob Lothian in it . Am really enjoying this site and it has brought back may nostalgic memories , even the distinctive smell in the local village Shop!

I was responsible for organising the renovation of Brunachan Cottage as an open bothy, with permission from Colonel Tapp, in 1986. (Sadly it is currently closed due to winter storm damage). 2 Brunachan is where the byre is now I presume. Achvady further down the glen was then a roofed structure with the roof loosing its slates. Within 10 years the roof was gone, with the walls collapsing. It was quite a tall building with quite a small 'footprint' - unusual for the Highlands. I'll be very curious and pleased to see a copy of the photograph referred to above.

Do you know if Sandy MacIntosh's mother was a school teacher before she married Major MacIntosh. The teacher above reminds me of her, will explain more when I catch up with you.

My Grandfather was Neil Dougherty and my Granny was Anne. She moved to Paisley with her 5 children after he died. My mother was Mary. The other children were Sarah, Cathie, Willie and Brian- I think.

My Grandfather was the station master at Roy Bridge. His wife was Annie. They had 5 children- Brian, Mary (my mother), Cathie, Morag and Willie.

Could you get in touch Mary , my maternal grandmother was Cathy

Wow I attended Tulloch School from 1953 to 1958 , Travelling down from Corrour Station each Day, Miss Lulliet (spelling) was the Teacher
