School Canteen ( Opened 1947/8 ?)

Many people, who attended Roybridge School will have happy memories of the School canteen and the delicious homemade food we were served. One of my favourite puddings I called bricks, as it reminded me of one, but certainly did not taste like one.It was made with chocolate and cornflakes among other things and was truly scrumptious.

I seem to remember there was a stove in the Dining area of the Canteen at one time. In the cold weather we usd to get a hot drink at break.

Hi Peter,
Been trying to remember approx date of Canteen opening, got to be around 1947/48 sometime.

Re.chimneys, remember we didn't have electricity in the area pre 1950. Expect the kitchen had coal ranges in the early years.
I say coal ranges because the class rooms had coal stoves when I was little...anyone remember the 'baked' potatoes?
