Spean Bridge - Glenmore Cup Winners 1914I may have solved a Shinty Mystery and Found another ? Richard Gall phoned me asking was it any of my Relations A Gow & J Gow whose names appeared on the base or the Glenmore ( Gleanmhor Cup ) , The 1st Mystery is going by the Inverness Courier My Grandfather Alistair and his Brother Donald played in and won the 1st Year the Cup was played in 1907 for Spean Bridge , Only 2 Teams contested the 1st Final but the name on the base says J Gow , not D Gow , but my grandfather also had a Brother John Gow , Typing error on Base ? or was it John that played , Richard informed me the Cup was missing for Many years and his mother found the Cup at Spean Lodge when she worked there in the 1960s , I Told him my Grandfather Alistair Gows in laws the Ross's lived at Spean Lodge and maybe it was them to blame for not returning it

Just Discovered my Grandfathers Brother Donald Gow was Secretary of Spean Bridge Shinty Club in 1907 and accepted the Cup on behalf of Spean Bridge Shinty Club

I think the cup came out in 1907
The story I heard was that. Spean got to keep it when they won it for the 3rd time in succession
Major Davy in the Lodge was the patron of the Spean team hence
it s ending up there.
The names on the base would probably be the winners of the the hat last final
