MacFarlanes house & Shop Spean Bridge 1880, what is now the Woollen Mill can be seen in the background.
Peter MacFarlane built this house and shop in the early 1850’s, he had previously lived in what is now the Lodge, which had been built as a house and shop by Allan MacDonald about 1836. Previous to this Allan had - “a small wooden house opposite the Inn door at Spean Bridge which has been for some time occupied by him as a shop for the sale of merchandise goods” (from a letter regarding Allan’s lease)
