Peter MacFarlane built this house and shop in the early 1850’s, he had previously lived in what is now the Lodge, which had been built as a house and shop by Allan MacDonald about 1836. Previous to this Allan had - “a small wooden house opposite the Inn door at Spean Bridge which has been for some time occupied by him as a shop for the sale of merchandise goods” (from a letter regarding Allan’s lease)
